Deepak Hooda makes his ODI debut in the West Indies series, India chooses to bowl
Team India is playing a milestone game as they are about to enter their 1000th ODI and, with Rohit Sharma winning the toss, things are already off to a good start. Rohit has decided to bowl and it seems the squad has seen some changes. KL Rahul’s absence will be filled by Deepak Hooda, who will make his ODI debut. The COVID-19 and the injury-ridden squad forced the management to reinvent the top order and make significant changes to it. A team’s success depends on its flexibility in its composition, among many other things.
Instead of bringing the wrist spin pair of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav together, India went with Washington Sundar, who can also bat at No. 7. Washington was making a comeback from an injury of his own. India’s fast bowlers were Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna. Kemar Roach was welcomed back to the West Indies XI. Also making comebacks were Fabian Allen and Darren Bravo, while opener Brandon King played his first ODI in almost two years.
