There has been continual chatter about MS Dhoni hanging up his boots from the Indian Premier League since he announced his retirement from international cricket. MS Dhoni responded to a fan’s question during a commemorative event for India Cements, the original owners of the CSK franchise. One of the fans had inquired about the CSK captain’s retirement on August 15, as well as his farewell match. Dhoni said at the time that he could play his final game in Chennai.

“There can’t be a greater day than August 15th, as you know. You may always come watch me play for CSK in the farewell game. That could be my final game. You’ll still have the chance to bid me farewell and I’ll be able to meet all of the fans,” MS Dhoni remarked.

Now, an official from India Cements has revealed that CSK will keep MS Dhoni for the IPL 2022 season, while also stating that it may not be his final season. He also said that the 40-year-old might continue to play in the lucrative league for a few more years.

“Of course, we’ll keep him on board. He’ll be there next year, and who knows, maybe a few years after that. Nothing has been arranged, and all he has mentioned is that his farewell match will be held in Chennai. According to Cricbuzz, the official stated, “There is no way to conclude that it will be next year. Also, the retention may not have been officially announced because the BCCI has yet come up with a policy ahead of the major auction”.
