The 8-hour long board meeting that Cricket Australia conducted recently, has finally come up with a historic decision to tour Pakistan for 3 match Test series, ODI series and a lone T20I match. The last time Australia toured Pakistan, was in 1998, even then there were many concerns of security and player safety. This concern remains still now, as Pakistan hasn’t progressed much in keeping their country safe from terrorists. The test matches venue has been decided and they will be played in Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore.

CA CEO Nick Hockley released a statement that was reported by cricket.com. He says, “For the first time in 24 years, the tour will go on. This is a momentous occasion that is critical to the game’s worldwide development and wellbeing. We are anticipating a thrilling series between two world-class squads”.

This tour will be a huge chance for Pakistan to redeem itself as their image of a hosting country was tarnished badly, when New Zealand and England cancelled their visit to Pakistan last year. It all began in 2009 when Sri Lanka had visited Pakistan and they were subjected to a deadly terrorist attack. Since then many foreign cricketing nations refused to travel to Pakistan and they were made to host their home international matches in UAE.
