Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL winners, may be in last place this season, but the organization has uncovered a true superstar. Dewald Brevis, 18, has been making waves in the high-profile T20 tournament for his exuberant optimism. The youthful batsman had blasted 49 off 25 pitches against Punjab Kings, and he followed that up with another whirlwind against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.

Brevis stepped in to bat after skipper Rohit Sharma (6) fell early to Avesh Khan, with the team needing 200 runs to win. Brevis, on the other hand, looked unfazed by the strain, smashing 31 off only 13 deliveries. He pushed the accelerator from the start, launching himself into a boundary through point. In the ninth over, Brevis blasted leg-spinner Rahul Chahar for a four and four consecutive sixes, including a huge 112-meter six over long-on.

Following his batting exploits in the recent Under-19 World Cup, Brevis was signed up by Mumbai Indians for 3 crore. He amassed 506 runs at an average of 84.33 in six matches, including two centuries and three fifties. The 18-year-old batsman also has a unique bond with AB de Villiers, who has established himself as one of the game’s greats thanks to his 360-batting technique. Brevis stated how the Proteas legend provides him with crucial comments before the game against Lucknow.
