Virat Kohli is set to return for the final Test against South Africa in Cape Town

KL Rahul has given an important update regarding the return of the prodigal son ‘Virat Kohli’ for the 3rd and final test in Cape Town. After India’s seven-wicket loss on the fourth day of the 2nd Test, stand-in captain KL Rahul said, “Virat is feeling better immediately. He’s been in the nets a previous couple of days and he’s been fielding and running around on the field. I believe he will be alright.”

Such is the importance of Team India’s most adept and adroit batter, Virat Kohli, that his absence in one match has weakened the confidence of the entire team and led them to a losing match. The team is longing for their captain and to change things for good. Even head coach Rahul Dravid has spoken along with these words. “He seemed to be in good health”, Dravid said. “He’s had a chance to run around a little bit, he’s had a chance to test it a little bit, and I’ll be down in the nets with a few throwdowns and stuff right now, so hopefully with a few net sessions in Cape Town, he’ll be good to go. I haven’t had a thorough discussion with the physio yet, but based on everything I’ve heard and just talking to him, he’s making great progress and should be ready to go in four days.”

Hanuma Vihari who played admirably in the 2nd innings could be sent to the bench if Kohli comes back to the field. Players like Vihari and Iyer have proved their worth in the squad but they will have to sacrifice their place to keep up the culture of supporting senior players even though it means to risk losing the game.
