Shreyas Iyer included in a Mumbai Fitness Camp, leading to speculation for a comeback in the IPL

India batsman Shreyas Iyer is on the rebound after the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) named him to a star-studded roster of 45 cricketers for a fitness training camp. In addition to Iyer, India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur were also on the list.

Iyer experienced a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England earlier this year, and he had to undergo a surgery to fix it. As a result, he has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2021, which will now take place in the United Arab Emirates.

“The fitness camp timetable will be published as soon as possible,” the board stated.

Talking about Iyer, the right-handed batsman said last week that he hopes he will be ready for the Delhi Capitals when the IPL 2021 season begins in September in the United Arab Emirates. From September 19 to October 15, the remaining half of the 14th edition of the IPL will be played in the UAE.

In white-ball cricket, Iyer is regarded as a vital member of India’s middle order. India will be anticipating that the right-handed batsman can demonstrate his fitness before the T20 World Cup, which begins in late October.
