Rishabh Pant tests positive for Covid-19

Rishabh Pant, India’s wicketkeeper, has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not accompany the team to Durham, where they are likely play a warm-up match. Pant, who recently attended a Euro Championship match at Wembley Stadium, has been isolated and is thought to be asymptomatic.

Despite the fact that BCCI secretary Jay Shah had warned the players and coaching staff against attending the Euros and Wimbledon, a few players, including Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, head coach Ravi Shastri, went forward with their plans, nonetheless.

Pant, Easwaran, and Saha will miss the practice match against a combined county side that is slated to begin on July 20 due to the 10-day isolation. Pant will also require rest and will be unable to participate in the game.

KL Rahul will play Combined Counties from July 20-22 in that case. Pant, who had his second immunization shot on July 7, is thought to have contracted the Delta-3 variant prior to the vaccination.

England tour starting August 4, the Indian squad will play the hosts in a five-match Test series. As a warm-up for the high-intensity series, they will play a practise game on July 20.
