Ramiz Raja set to officially take over as PCB Chairman on 13th September

From Monday, September 13, 2021, Ramiz Raja, a former Pakistan captain, will formally take over as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He will succeed Ehsan Mani, who was elected unopposed in 2018 and will serve out the remainder of his three-year term.

Ramiz and senior bureaucrat Asad Ali Khan have been appointed as new members of the BOG(Board of Governors) by Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Ramiz met Imran Khan a month ago with his plan for Pakistan’ cricketing future, and according to reports, he accepted the position of chairman of the PCB.

While Ramiz has yet to be named chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), his influence was felt in the selection of the Pakistan national side for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman in October and November this year.

The abrupt resignations of Pakistan team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis have been attributed to Ramiz Raja’s appointment as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Both have been under immense pressure for the past few months as a result of the national team’s performances, and many sources claim they would have been asked to go when the new PCB regime took control, but instead chose to resign.

Ramiz is scheduled to make some policy announcements on Pakistan’s cricket organisation, the selection committee structure, and other critical matters.
