New Zealand tour of Bangladesh confirmed for 5 T20Is in September

From September 1 to 10, Bangladesh will host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, with all matches taking place at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. The series will serve as part of the teams’ preparations for the T20 World Cup, which will take place in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14.

The tour ends nine days before the IPL’s second leg, which starts on September 19. The New Zealand team is planned to arrive in Bangladesh on August 24, and will play a practise match on August 29, before the series begins on September 1, with the following matches set for September 3, 5, 8, and 10.

This will be New Zealand’s first visit to Bangladesh since 2013, when they were thrashed 3-0 in ODIs but won a single T20I after a 1-1 draw in the Test series.

Bangladesh have toured New Zealand twice since then, for a full tour in 2016 and a limited-overs series in 2021. They were unable to secure a single victory. New Zealand thrashed the visitors in both ODIs and T20Is in their most recent matches, which took place in March and April.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will visit Pakistan in October for three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty-20 Internationals, marking their first visit to the country in 18 years. The Kiwis recently played England in a two-Test series, which they won 1-0 away from home, before defeating India in the World Test Championship final.

As present, Bangladesh is hosting Australia for a five-match Twenty20 International series at home. England’s white-ball trip to Bangladesh, originally slated for September-October this year, has been rescheduled till March 2023.
