As per a release, West Indies icon Chris Gayle, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi and former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan are some of the many renowned names that have signed up for the draught of the second season of LPL. Faf du Plessis, a former South African captain, will also be available in the drought, and numerous teams will be interested in acquiring his talents. Chris Gayle, who is now competing in the T20 World Cup 2021, has played in T20 leagues all over the world. The southpaw is also the top run scorer in T20 cricket history. In terms of Afridi and Pathan, they are no longer active international players, so it would be interesting to see how the draught goes.

It’s worth noting that the draught for this year’s event was originally set for November 5. It was later rescheduled for November 9. Colombo, Dambulla, Galle, Jaffna, and Kandy are the five teams participating in the competition. A team can have a total of 20 players, with 14 from the local area and 6 from other countries. Aside from these international heavyweights, several local prospects will be scrutinised. Young talents such as Charith Asalanka, Mahesh Theekshana, and Pathum Nissanka have recently performed well in national colours and will be key players for their respective teams in this year’s LPL.
