India Thrash South Africa In 1st Test In Centurion

India’s once-in-a-generation bowling unit blasted a listless South Africa in the first Test at Centurion on Thursday, setting the team on the road to an elusive series victory in the Rainbow nation.

The year 2021 began with India breaking the Fortress Gabba Down Under, and it couldn’t have come at a better moment, since they have already demolished Supersport Park, which has long been a Proteas stronghold. South Africa was bowled out for 191 in their second innings on the fifth and final day of the series opener at SuperSport Park, despite being set a tough target of 305.

At lunch, the hosts were 182 for seven, losing by 123 runs. South Africa were 94 for four on the fourth day, with captain Dean Elgar undefeated on 52, after the Indian hitters succumbed to the uneven bounce and were all out for 174 in only 50.3 overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami each took three wickets for India, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin each took two wickets.
