Hardik Pandya should be utilized as a pure batter in T20 WC

There has been a lot of chatter about India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who appears to be dealing with fitness difficulties ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021. Pandya’s lack of consistency with the ball following his back surgery is well documented, and he has missed his bowling duties on several occasions. Even if he did, he was uncomfortable, and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has voiced his opinion in the same vein.

Pandya, according to Sehwag, should be utilised as a pure batter at the T20 World Cup in the UAE because he is a batter first and a bowler second. The Gujarat cricketer was only able to make it into India’s XI because of his devastating batting. Even if Pandya couldn’t play, the former opener said he would have kept him in his team.

“Hardik Pandya can win you matches by himself. He is primarily a batsman, with bowling being a bonus. He can win matches with the bat even if he isn’t fit enough to bowl”, Virender Sehwag said, “I will always maintain such a player in my team.”

Ajay Jadeja, a former Indian cricketer, concurred with Sehwag’s remarks during the same conversation. In fact, Jadeja believes that Pandya should be moved up the order because he possesses the necessary ability to bat in the middle overs, and that putting him at No. 7 is not a good idea.

“If a batter needs to be mature, he must be moved up the order. He’s now demonstrated that he can do this while arriving early. He is capable of batting in the middle overs. I’m not sure why the Mumbai Indians aren’t sending him up the order,” Ajay Jadeja added.

Pandya missed the first two games with Mumbai Indians in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 and appeared rusty in the next game, but he proved his worth against PBKS with an undefeated 40-run knock at the conclusion.
