Gambhir slams Eoin Morgan for taking codes from analyst Nathan Leamon during matches

After the match between CSK and KKR in Abu Dhabi, former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir blasted captain Eoin Morgan. KKR were defeated by CSK by two wickets on Sunday in a match that went down to the wire after many turns and twists.

Morgan was observed getting code from England analyst Nathan Leamon during the games, who was hired by the team as a strategic adviser in January. Gambhir, who guided KKR to two IPL wins in 2012 and 2014, was not comfortable with such tactics and stated he would have resigned if a situation like this had occurred during his tenure.

CSK needed 26 runs in the final two overs to win, with all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran at the crease. In the last over of the contest, Jadeja burst against Prasidh Krishna, scoring 20 runs off the last four balls to reduce the equation to four runs off six balls. Despite Sunil Narine’s brilliant over, CSK crossed the finish line on the penultimate delivery when Deepak Chahar cleared the carrom ball to the midwicket zone for a single and a two-wicket victory.

“There is no need for a captain on the ground when all the messages are sent from outside. I would have given up the captaincy if I had been in this circumstance”, Gambhir said, “This is not the proper way.”

In the first leg of the IPL 2021, KKR had won just two of their seven matches, but since the competition was transferred to the UAE, the team has regrouped well and won two games in a row before falling to CSK on Sunday.

The next encounter for KKR will take place on Tuesday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium against the Delhi Capitals.
