CSK's Indian players expected to depart for the UAE on August 13th

The IPL is slated to continue in another 40 days, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are planning to arrive in the UAE by August 13 to begin their preparations. The three-time IPL champions, on the other hand, are still waiting for the UAE authorities to give them permission to land their chartered jet. MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, arrived in Chennai on Tuesday ahead of the departure of a group of players to the United Arab Emirates, which will host the rest of the IPL 2021 starting next month.

There will be no training camp in Chennai before the Super Kings’ players depart for the UAE, according to CSK CEO K S Viswanathan. After the event was postponed earlier this year owing to the outbreak of Covid-19 in its bubble, the second part of the IPL 2021 will begin on September 19 in the UAE. The BCCI therefore opted to hold the remaining matches in the United Arab Emirates, which had already hosted the IPL 2020 tournament.

CSK will continue their IPL campaign against Mumbai Indians on September 19. Before the league was postponed due to Covid, the Dhoni-led side was in second place with 10 points after seven games.

The BCCI has already intervened to assist CSK in obtaining authorisation and arriving at their Dubai base.

“To land in Dubai, CSK needs the UAE government’s consent. The BCCI is investigating the situation. CSK’s players are already quarantined in Chennai, with RT-PCR Covid test results that are negative. CSK’s players, support personnel, and officials have all been vaccinated. As a result, the NOC should arrive within a day”, according to a report. Due to the delay in gaining authorisation from UAE officials, CSK may have to change its plans.

On October 8, the league stage’s final match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. The knockout stage of the elite T20 competition will begin on October 10, with Qualifier 1 in Dubai and the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 in Sharjah, respectively, on October 11 and 13.
