Bhuvi

After the T20 World Cup in October-November this year, a final decision on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s participation in Test cricket will be made. Before the squad went for England to play in the World Test Championship final last month, the team management was eager to use his talents, and his name as a replacement was also mooted.

“The board had a discussion with Bhuvneshwar. It has been decided that he won’t be pushed to play Test cricket before the T20 World Cup. He has to first play three-four First-Class games. He hasn’t played the longer format for over three years. There’s a chance of him breaking down if he suddenly resumes playing Test cricket,” a BCCI official stated.

It’s likely that a decision on Bhuvneshwar will be made before the December trip to South Africa. The details of Prithvi and Suryakumar’s travel are still being ironed out. After completing their quarantine in England, they will be ready for the second Test.

The India pacer, who took three wickets in two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Sri Lanka, will play in the T20 International (T20I) series, which begins on July 25.

Bhuvneshwar on the other hand, has stated that he does not want to choose between red-ball and white-ball cricket, and that if selected, he would be glad to play in either.
