On Monday (July 26), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the amended squad for the forthcoming England tour, which begins on August 4. Multiple injuries occurred in the squad, prompting the team’s management to request replacements for the injured players. Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan have been ruled out of the tour.

Prithvi Shaw, who was dropped from the Test selection after a poor performance in Australia, has returned after a strong run in domestic cricket, the Indian Premier League, and the India tour of Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav is the second player selected for the England series alongside him. He has been in sensational form in the Indian Premier League and international cricket. He has already scored two half-centuries in Sri Lanka. It will be his first Test appearance, and he is expected to fill in for Ajinkya Rahane, who is out with a hamstring injury.

With two negative RT-PCR tests, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has recovered from COVID-19. After receiving clearance from the BCCI Medical Team, he began his preparations for the next Test series.

Bowling coach Bharat Arun, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, and opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, have completed their self-isolation in London and have now joined Team India in Durham.
