Bangladesh made another remarkable comeback in the Dhaka Test on the fifth morning, this time without Mushfiqur Rahim. Early in the session, the seasoned hitter was bowled by an inswinger from Kasun Rajitha, leaving Bangladesh at 53 for 5 and facing an 88-run deficit. That’s when Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan teamed up, and the two have now contributed 96 runs for the sixth wicket, putting Bangladesh in command and forcing the visitors to bat again.

Although Sri Lanka remain favorites to win the Test match, the advantage is just eight runs, and the momentum and atmosphere heading into the lunch break indicated otherwise. To make matters worse, Shakib reached fifty runs at the stroke of lunch, while Litton was still a couple of runs short from fifty. He’s still here after overturning an on-field caught-behind judgment off the bowling of Rajitha, today’s top bowler. Rajitha, ironically, was the opponent against whom Shakib smashed three boundaries in an over to start his innings going.
