Amir and Ilyas of the Karachi Kings ruled out of the PSL 2022 season due to injury
Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Ilyas are retired from the Karachi Kings’ struggling PSL season due to injuries. The 2020 champions will be without two important bowlers as they try to rebound from three straight losses to open the season and climb out of the bottom half of the league.
“Mohammad Amir, who had been suffering from a side strain for the past week or two, has aggravated his back injury during his rehabilitation and will not be able to play the rest of the season. While Mohammad Ilyas, despite a severe shoulder injury, returned to bowl two overs in the final match after undergoing treatment. The worst has been confirmed by MRIs, and he is ordered to rest for the next six weeks or more. He will return to Peshawar tomorrow evening.” a franchise statement said.
In the meantime, the absence of these two pace bowlers has put a nail in the coffin for the Karachi Kings. In its first three games, the Babar Azam-led team lost a hat-trick of matches. As a result, Karachi has a negative net run rate of -0.998, putting them at the bottom of the team standings. When they meet Peshawar Zalmi on Friday, they’ll be trying to snap their losing skid.
In terms of the Karachi Kings’ season thus far, the 2020-edition champions were defeated by the reigning champions Multan Sultans by seven wickets in the season opener. They were then defeated by Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets before losing by six wickets to Lahore Qalandars. Karachi’s next game is on Friday against Peshawar.
