In advance of the IPL 2023 auction, Delhi Capitals exchange Shardul Thakur for Aman Khan of Kolkata Knight Riders.
On Monday, a major trade between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was finalized in the run-up to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction. Before the upcoming season of the financially rewarding league, Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur moved his base from Delhi to Kolkata. In the 16th season of the IPL, the richest league in the globe, the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star will play for the Shreyas Iyer-led team.
Iyer, the captain of KKR, and Shardul, a recent addition to Kolkata, are both included in the Indian white-ball squad for the upcoming series against the hosts, New Zealand. After a disappointing performance at the T20 World Cup 2022, Team India will play New Zealand in a three-match T20I series. The standby list for the recently finished T20 World Cup in Australia included Shardul and Shreyas.
According to recent happenings, Aman Khan was traded from Kolkata Knight Riders to Delhi Capitals. For KKR, Aman made his IPL debut last year. The former IPL champions signed him at the IPL auction for INR 20 Lakh.
At the IPL 2022 mega auction, Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals won the star all-rounder Shardul for a staggering INR 10.75 crore. At the mega auction, Delhi Capitals outwitted CSK and Punjab Kings (PBKS) to sign Shardul. Pacer Shardul recorded 15 wickets for DC in 14 IPL 2022 games. The middle-order batter had a strike rate of over 138 the season before and scored 120 runs.
The 31-year-old KKR star has played for Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Rising Pune Supergiant in the lucrative league. In 2015, Shardul made his IPL debut at the Arun Jaitley Stadium against the Delhi Capitals. Before the mini-auction, Shardul joined two-time champions KKR as a third player. For the upcoming season, KKR has also signed Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans (GT) in an all-cash deal.
